Montgomery County pioneered inclusionary zoning through its Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) program, which ensures onsite affordable housing in residential site plans. In addition, Montgomery has created a Housing Initiative Fund to help finance affordable housing units and projects. The County also features a workforce affordable dwelling unit program for families between 70-120% median income.

Montgomery County continues to explore innovative solutions for preserving and creating affordable housing. A joint stakeholder Affordable Housing Task Force released its recommendations for the next generation of public goals. The report was accepted by the County Executive as the County’s policy blueprint.
