Protecting our agricultural land and rural open spaces is an important piece of smarter growth in our region. Montgomery County's Agricultural Reserve is a source of fresh, local produce and wonderful recreation. For over 25 years, Montgomery County has preserved this working landscape against the pressure of suburban development and a recurring proposal for an "Outer Beltway" for trucks to Dulles Airport. Montgomery Countryside Alliance works to preserve the Agricultural Reserve through public education, economic development policies that support farming and advocacy for land uses compatible with the farm economy.
