Financial Information
Founded in 1997, we are the leading organization addressing how and where the Washington region grows. We are your advocate and partner for making our communities and our region more sustainable, inclusive, walkable and bikeable, transit-accessible, and vibrant.
Awards and Recognition
We are proud to have twice been recognized by the prestigious Catalogue for Philanthropy as one of the best nonprofits in the Washington region. This means you can be confident your dollars are being used as effectively and efficiently as possible. Our fiscal agent, the Piedmont Environmental Council, has earned Charity Navigator’s highest ranking.
Our Financial Supporters
We are deeply grateful for the support from our funders, including residents of the Washington region, companies and civic organizations, and foundations that make our work possible. In 2009, our funding came from:

Use of Funds
Funding supports our education, outreach, and policy work in the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and at the regional level, along with work at the state level in Maryland and Virginia. We also offer consulting advice to partner groups around the region.
Our Fiscal Agent
The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC), a 501(c)3 public charity for over 30 years, is our fiscal agent and grant administrator. Their role as a fiscal agent allows us to pool resources for administrative work, such as accounting and employee benefits management, saving us money that we focus on our programs. As our fiscal agent, PEC also processes our donations and ensures that all donations made to CSG are properly earmarked and segregated within the PEC system. Their tax identification number is 54-0935569. To obtain copies of PEC’s most recent IRS Form 990 filings, which includes CSG, please contact Jay Clevenson at jclevenson (at) pecva.org.
