Smart Growth Social, our annual fall fundraiser, is once again going local this year! Instead of our big party at Eastern Market, we’re working with local partners to host community-based gatherings across the region and highlight the importance of creating great places for people. All five socials will feature a walking tour that highlights exciting new developments and ending with a fun happy hour.
Join us for one or more of our fall Smart Growth Social Goes Local events:
DC: City Ridge (Oct 17 at 5:30pm, RSVP)
Join us, Ward3Vision, and other local smart growth advocates for a walking tour of the new 10-acre City Ridge project on Wisconsin Avenue at the former Fannie Mae headquarters site. We’ll end with a fun happy hour at Surfside!
Maryland: Downtown Largo (Oct 6 at 5:30pm, RSVP)
We’re hosting a walking tour highlighting the mixed use development and efforts to improve walk and bike-friendly access around Downtown Largo. New development includes the Capital Region Medical Center and Carillon (formerly the Boulevard), and other future development envisioned in the County Executive’s Blue Line Corridor initiative.
Maryland: Pike & Rose (Sep 22 at 5:30pm, RSVP)
Join local smart growth advocates for a walking tour of Pike & Rose in North Bethesda, highlighting placemaking, public spaces, Metro & bike access, and future redevelopment. We’ll end with a fun happy hour!

Falls Church is the newest leading smart growth community in Northern Virginia with lots of exciting development. Join us for a walking tour highlighting the West Falls Church Metro plan, Route 7 bus rapid transit, and the new upgrades to W&OD, and Founders Row. We’ll end with a fun happy hour!
