We are thrilled and touched by the great turnout and your enthusiasm.
It was wonderful to see so many old friends, meet new friends, and celebrate Mayor Justin Wilson and our Community Hero awardees – Bernard Holloway, Kyle Reeder, Tina Slater, Michelle Krocker, and Kim Hosen. We are touched by the many family members of our awardees who joined us and the enthusiastic turnout of City of Alexandria staff who work so hard to implement the goals set by the Mayor and Council.
WMATA General Manager Randy Clarke joined us as well – in recognition of the important role that CSG plays in advocating for transit in the DC region. And we managed to spark some good natured ribbing between Mayor Wilson and former Arlington Board member Jay Fisette over whether Alexandria or Arlington leads the smart growth race!
Mayor Wilson, CSG Champions Council Chair Rodney Harrell, and our Executive Director Stewart Schwartz all noted the teamwork between CSG and local Community Heroes, local government, and the private sector in meeting the challenges before us and making our region more sustainable and equitable.
Be sure to check out the pictures from the event, taken by Hugh Kenny of The Piedmont Environmental Council (remember to credit him if you share).
Our sincerest thanks to our generous corporate and individual sponsors, donors, foundations, and volunteers whose unflagging support makes our work possible. Supporters like you are critical to our success: about 20% of our budget comes from corporate supporters, 30% from individual donations, and 50% from foundations.
Thank you for your commitment to CSG and all that you do to make this region walkable, bikeable, inclusive, and transit-oriented.
The CSG Team
